Advanced Space Systems Japan made Venus Expedition 1 the first commercial Venus-orbiting satellite as part of a joint project with France and the European Space Agency. The mission was launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome on a Proton-M/Briz-K launch vehicle from June 26 on 2009, and will return images of the planet every four days.
